Shoulder
Frozen shoulder, AC joint, Labral tear, Rotator cuff tear, Instability, Impingement
The shoulder is a simple joint and the most mobile joint in the body, the upper arm meets the scapula at a ball and socket joint, however the scapula moves freely over the rib cage as well. Due to the high levels of mobility, the shoulder joint is one of the least stable joints in the body and is very reliant on the muscles surrounding the joint to keep it stable and operating well.
The shoulder is connected to our central skeleton only via the collar bone. This means that bomy stability is minimal and the shoulder capsule and muscles become more important in shoulder health.
If you have shoulder pain that lasts more than a week or two it is a very good idea to have it assessed early. Due to the variety of pain sensitive structures in the shoulder it can be hard to self diagnose and self manage the shoulder without professional direction. With an accurate diagnosis from a physiotherapist at Mountside Physio + Wellness, we can give you an appropriate rehabilitation program whether it is your rotator cuff, AC joint, impingement or any instability causing your pain.
